Here are answers to a few questions we think you may have. Please read our full hire terms and conditions to make sure you are happy with everything before booking.
When are your collection & return times?
Collections: Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturday 8:30am – 10am
Returns: Sunday 4pm – 6pm and Monday 10am – 4pm
Location: 43 Birkdale Road, Birkdale, North Shore, Auckland. This is a home business so our opening times are strictly those listed above. Equipment needs to be booked in advance of pick-up.
We include the entire weekend in our hire pricing to give you plenty of time to set up and pack down. Please read our full terms and conditions of hire to make sure you are happy with everything before booking.
How do I make a booking or reserve some equipment?
Bookings are essential. Please leave us a message in the bookings area on the homepage that includes the items you wish to hire and the date you want them for. We will respond via email within 24 hours with confirmation or suggestions for alternative items available on those dates. You can also add items to your cart & request them that way or email us directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
Do you deliver items?
Yes, we can make deliveries to addresses on the North Shore area only. Costs for delivery are $25 each way and does not include set up. Please enquire for more detail if you're interested in this service.
What payment methods are available?
We only accept direct deposits into our bank account. This needs to be done within 5 days of receiving the booking agreement in order to secure your items. Full payment must be received before collection will be allowed.
Do I have to pay a bond?
Yes, we do request payment of a bond. A security deposit/bond of $50.00 will be required to cover misuse, damages to Equipment including lost pieces or lost toys during the hire period. This is added to your total hire charge amount and is payable within 5 days of your booking confirmation. We will also request a copy of your drivers licence for security purposes. The bond will be returned to you via direct credit to your nominated bank account within 7 days of the return date if all Equipment is returned clean and in a satisfactory condition. How long can I hire items for?
The standard hire period is 3 days with collections being made on Friday and returns due on the following Monday. This means you have the items on hand regardless of whether your party is on the Saturday or the Sunday.
However, we are open for an additional 2 hours on Saturday morning from 8:30am until 10am for pick-ups and again at 4pm until 6pm on Sunday for returns if the weekends work better for you.
Cake Tins only can be hired for up to 10 days – Friday/Saturday to Monday week if required.
The latest the Equipment can be returned is still the Monday immediately following your hire without incurring additional hire charges. The hire does not extend to the full 3 days if you have collected items on Saturday.
Do I get a discount if I bring items back earlier?
All Equipment has a set hire price regardless of when it is collected or returned within it’s hire period. Early returns do not qualify for a discount or refund.
Where do I pick items up from?
Pick up and return of equipment is from our venue in Birkdale. The address is 43 Birkdale Road, Birkdale, North Shore, Auckland. We are a home business so we ask to Customers to please respect our hours of operation. See above for our hours.
We're at the bottom of a long driveway, so just come on down. There is plenty of space to turn around with room for a trailer or small truck if necessary.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking? Do I get my money back?
If you need to cancel a booking, you may do so up to 3 weeks before your booking date without forfeiting any of your booking fee. We will refund your payment via direct credit. Cancellations made within 3 weeks of your booking will forfeit 50% of your booking fee and the remainder will be returned to you. Your bond is excluded from this and will be returned upon cancellation regardless.
What safety features do you provide?
Ground pegs are provided for the Castle when used on grass, and sand bags for use on concrete or indoors. All four corners of the castle need to be secured at all times. A 30m orange RCD safety extension cord is given to allow you greater freedom in terms of where you position the Castle. It is provided to help protect against electrical surges. The power to the blower will be shut off if a surge is detected and the device is triggered.
Ground sheets are provided for the Castle to sit on to minimise damage to the base if being used on concrete, gravel or slightly uneven surfaces (although flat grass is always recommended). We have EVA foam interlocking safety mats that are available on request free of charge with Bouncy Castle hire. These are especially useful if you are using the Castle on a concrete or wooden surface to give the kids a softer landing at the base of the exit slide. They can be hired for an additional $5.00 if required to use as a play base for the plastic slides or other toys.
Weighted sand bags are provided when the Castle is going to be used on concrete or indoors to help keep it in place.
What age and how many children are allowed in the Bouncy Castle?
Our Castles are designed for children of ages 2 up to 7, with an individual weight of up to 55kg. The number of children using the castle at any one time should not exceed 3 children on the Bubble Castle and 4 children on the Red and Blue Castle. We have a very strict set of usage guidelines for the Bouncy Castles and are in place for the safety of the Children. These will be provided at the time of booking and you will be required to sign that you have read & understood these prior to taking the castle.
How much space is required for the Bouncy Castle?
The Bouncy Castles we hire out are small to medium sized, a space of at least 5m Length x 4m Width x 3m Height will fit the largest of our castles, they can be erected on grass, gravel or concrete, as long as the ground sheet provided is used and the area is relatively flat and free from obstacles. If required for use indoors, then due to it's smaller size the Bubble Bouncy Castle is recommended as it will easily fit. Please ensure there is sufficient roof height if hiring the larger Blue & Red Castle allowing an extra 3 feet above the castle for movement and bouncing.
